Effective and Economical
YourMag is a family owned and run business that was launched by Debbie Singh-Bhatti in April 2010 after discovering that there wasn’t an effective and economical way for local businesses and groups to promote their products and services to the community. Now there is!
The first issue landed on the doorsteps of 5,000 homes in the Dinnington area. Five months later this was extended to 3,800 homes in the Kiveton area, and by November an additional 5,000 copies were being delivered to the Aston area. Demand was high and the Dinnington edition increased to 7,000 in November 2012 bringing the total distribution figure to 15,800. We currently distribute to 16,500 properties.
Each issue of YourMag is packed full with local news, a What’s On Guide, list of community groups and useful phone numbers along with an array of interesting articles, puzzles, recipes and a popular For Sale section. All this ensures a good read each month – it is so much more than just an advertising tool!
We are committed to helping all contributors achieve the results they seek, so whether you need to design an advert, write an editorial or promote an event, help is at hand in the YourMag office! Free designs, free editorials and generous discounts are all available subject to certain conditions. There’s also lots of free advice!
Meet the Team
Debbie Singh-Bhatti
For many years, YourMag was marketed, designed, edited and published by a one lady team – me! Now that another family member has joined the team, I still do all those things, with a focus on writing articles and editorial, designing adverts, looking after the finances and making sure everyone else does their job properly!
Before YourMag I spent three years studying English at university, seven years working in retail management and nineteen years running my own cleaning business. Experience in these three fields helped me develop the array of skills I needed to publish a successful magazine.
Central to my business ethic is the desire to deliver a quality service at a realistic price. That’s what I look for in a provider and that’s what you will get with YourMag. I always offer honest advice and endeavour to treat my customers as I would like to be treated.
I absolutely love what I do, but when I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my husband, four daughters and four grandchildren. I also like to sew, crochet, do family history, garden, sing and play the piano (amongst other things)!
Ami Singh-Bhatti
I was hired by Debbie in 2013 as unskilled labour. It’s true! I didn’t go to university, I failed CSE English and I knew nothing about magazines! However, I slowly learned and finally got promoted to sales and distribution manager. I now have responsibility for customer liaison, business development and magazine distribution.
Before joining YourMag, I ran a cleaning and restoration business for 19 years, and before becoming self employed I worked in the motor industry, first as a mechanic and then as a manager for tyre and exhaust centres like Kwikfit.
I was born in India but came to England with my family in 1968. I like to play pool and was a good sprinter at school but a dodgy knee and a few extra pounds mean I now watch sports more than I play! I can talk for England, especially about football (Liverpool), but lately I’ve got to talking a lot about magazines too!
I love getting out and about and meeting people, and my real enjoyment comes from helping other businesses to grow, especially new start ups. When I can, I like to pass on the knowledge and expertise I have gained from running my own business for over 30 years.
